My Trip to the Blue Mountains

One day this week, I took a fabulous trip from my loft apartment in Sydney to the gorgeous Blue Mountains on the Sydney Buses. I absolutely love the Blue Mountains at this time of year. The changing of seasons brings out even more of their beauty.

I left around eight in the morning from the Central Station in Sydney in order to spend a longer day in the mountains. The first leg of my journey lasted just under two hours with the train dropping me off at the station in Katoomba. With only a couple minutes to spare before catching the next bus, the 686, to take me to the Echo Point Road, I did not have much time for sightseeing here. However, once I got to the last station, I thoroughly enjoyed my late morning and afternoon hiking and thoroughly enjoyed seeing The Three Sisters natural landmark.

For my return trip, I took the 686 bus again which left Echo Point just after five. I enjoyed the two hour and twenty minute trip back since it gave me time relax and look through the photographs from that day. I arrived back in Sydney in time for a late supper.

On Wednesday morning, I needed to arrive at the Sydney Airport before my flight at 11. I decided to take a bus (of course!) from my home in the CBD to Mascot so that I did not have to ask a friend for a ride.

I bought a prepaid ticket for the M20 bus which departed from QVB, York St a little before 9:20 am. The ride did not take a terribly long amount of time, and I arrived at Botany Rd Nr Hollingshed St in Mascot around 9:50 am. The bus itself was very clean, wheelchair accessible, and I did not encounter any unpleasant people (yay!). The brief journey was enjoyable and uncomplicated. I had to take a short walk to Botany Rd Nr Elizabeth Av to catch my next bus that would take me directly to the airport. The 400 bus departed soon after I arrived, allowing me to arrive at the Sydney Airport terminal at about 10:10 am, giving me the perfect amount of time to rest before my Qantas flight (yes, I know that isn’t the Qantas website, but I Want That Flight gets me flights even cheaper than Qantas does)..

The bus (yet again) saved me a good deal of trouble and were very quick and easy. Overall, the bus rides were inexpensive and truly convenient.
